Naomi is the President and CEO of Naomi Beard & Associates. For more than 10 years as a professional coach to attorneys and law firm executives, Naomi has drawn on her decade of experience as a practicing attorney to incorporate a deep understanding of law firm life in her work with clients.

Combining her first-hand perspective on the unique challenges of a career in law with an instinct for tapping into a client’s strengths and needs, Naomi is able to help professionals at all levels map a satisfying path to career success.

Education and Background
Naomi graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, Order of the Coif, in 1997.  She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, magna cum laude, in 1993.  She practiced law for nearly 10 years with the firms Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP (Los Angeles; Washington DC) and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP (Washington, DC).

Naomi is a fully certified and credentialed coach, having earned the Certified Mentor Coach designation through MentorCoach, an International Coach Federation-accredited coach training program. She is qualified to administer and interpret a variety of standardized qualitative assessments, and is a frequent presenter at law firm and professional association events. She has been published in the New York Law Journal, and her contributions via electronic newsletter have been reprinted in a variety of online and print venues.

She is a member of the California, Virginia, and Washington, DC bars, as well as the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, and the International Coach Federation.

Nina is the managing director of Naomi Beard & Associates.  Focusing on the professional development of attorneys and law firm professionals, Nina coaches her clients to proactively manage their careers.

Executive Coaching and Career Transition Consulting
Drawing upon nine years of law practice experience in both law firm and in-house settings, Nina collaborates with clients to improve their performance, develop their business and relationship-building skills, cultivate leadership abilities and manage work-life integration.

She also works with individuals to accomplish career transitions.  Through her coaching, she encourages clients to discover and pursue professional and personal opportunities that complement their strengths and align with their values.

Law Firm Consultation
In partnership with law firm leadership, Nina provides consultation on multi-office law firm upward reviews, as well as initiatives to improve business and relationship-building strategies at all seniority levels.

Education and Background
Before entering the coaching profession, Nina served as in-house employment counsel for Nestlé, USA, Inc. She previously practiced employment and labor law with Littler Mendelson, P.C. of Los Angeles, and Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman, LLP of Beverly Hills.

Nina received her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School and her B.A. in political science, magna cum laude, from The University of California, Los Angeles.  She is a Certified Mentor Coach through MentorCoach, LLC, an International Coach Federation-accredited coach training program.

Leslie is a senior consultant with Naomi Beard & Associates.  For more than seven years, Leslie has counseled senior law firm leaders and associates on career strategies designed to achieve meaningful and sustainable career success.

Leslie provides executive coaching to clients, specializing in crucial career strategy issues such as:

Leslie began her legal career as a litigator in the Attorney General’s Office for the State of Washington before moving into career management coaching in the legal sector.

She received her coaching training from The Coaches Training Institute, the leading graduate program in the professional coaching industry.  In addition, she is certified in the Leadership Circle Profile Assessment, a program that measures an array of executive competencies regarded as essential to leadership development.

Leslie earned her J. D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.  She also holds an LL.M. in environmental law and natural resources from Lewis & Clark Law School, and a B.A. degree in international relations from the University of California, Davis.

Her professional affiliations include the International Coach Federation, and the California and Washington State Bar Associations.  Leslie lives in San Francisco with her husband and daughter, and enjoys kayaking and paddling around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Joey Silberfein, Senior Consultant & Director of Client Relations, has been in the legal profession for more than 15 years, including 13 years at large New York City law firms.

She launched her career at Proskauer Rose LLP, where she was a practicing attorney for five years, ultimately serving as the Legal Director of the Litigation Department. Her responsibilities also included leading initiatives for Proskauer associates in professional development, recruitment, diversity and associate affairs.

Joey’s entire legal career has been steeped in counseling and coaching attorneys in all aspects of career success. A salute to her career-guidance expertise was her appointment as chair of the New York State Bar Association’s (NYSBA) Work/Life Balance Subcommittee as part of the organization’s Task Force on the Future of the Legal Profession.

She has served on numerous other NYSBA committees, as well.

She also created and implemented attorney development and CLE training programs for the litigation and bankruptcy departments of Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton and Garrison LLP in her role as Professional Development Manager.

Joey earned her J. D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an undergraduate degree in political science from the University of Michigan.

Besides membership in bar associations for both the state of New York and New York City, her professional affiliations have included:

Jessica Hedrick has been counseling attorneys and law students since 2008. Prior to joining NB&A, she served as Associate Director of Career Planning at New York Law School. She specializes in identifying each clients’ unique strengths, and developing expert marketing and interviewing skills that build strategically upon them. Jessica is actively involved in current issues in attorney career development, coordinating networking events with the New York County Lawyers’ Association and serving as a panelist at the New York City Bar. She began her coaching career at a small legal outplacement firm, counseling associates in transition to determine their goals, identify resources, and create strategic plans for individual success.

Jessica’s background includes a parallel career writing for stage and screen. Her contributions to independent film and theater have been recognized at Sundance, Cannes, and the New York International Fringe Festival. She holds a BA from Earlham College and completed a two-year acting training program at Meisner Studios in New York City.

Gina is a senior consultant with Naomi Beard & Associates. After working for over two years in London, UK, she recently relocated to Portland, Oregon.  She draws on more than a decade of experience as a practicing attorney with national law firms in Washington, D.C., San Francisco and New York.

Executive Coaching and Career Transition Consulting
Gina coaches individual lawyers in all aspects of their personal and professional growth, with a particular focus on helping them achieve clarity in their goals, inspiring them to take positive steps forward, improve performance and accelerate their careers. She also coaches managers, empowering them to get the best from their teams.

Gina works with individuals to accomplish career transitions. Through her coaching, she encourages clients to discover and pursue professional opportunities that compliment their strengths and align with their interests and values.

Law Firm Consultation
Gina provides consultation on multi-office law firm upward reviews, and assists in designing and implementing talent development programs for law firms based on feedback derived from these reviews.

Gina is passionate about helping women lawyers develop and optimize leadership and management skills, and helping law firms increase the female talent pipeline. To help increase retention of female talent, she provides coaching to women lawyers before, during, and after maternity leave, as well as bespoke workshops and coaching programs to women in transition and their managers.

Education and Background
Gina graduated from the George Washington University Law School in 1999. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in 1996. She practiced for nearly twelve years with the law firms Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur LLP (Washington, D.C.), Gordon & Rees LLP (San Francisco), and Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP (New York), where her focus was on insurance coverage and employment law.

Gina received her coaching training from The Coaches Training Institute (CTI), the oldest and largest in-school coach training program in the world. She is also a member of the California Bar.

Marcie is operations director of Naomi Beard & Associates.  In addition to ensuring an efficient day-to-day operation of all aspects of the business for our clients and our team, she contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices.

Background and Education
Marcie holds a B.S. degree in business management from Pepperdine’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.  She has more than 15 years’ experience in business management, including 11 years of oversight for the daily operations of a multimillion dollar company.  Her work history also includes project management in human resources, finance, accounting and customer service.

Marcie is also a certified coach. She earned her certification in the MentorCoach Foundations program, which meets professional standards established by the International Coach Federation (ICF) for coach training.

She lives in suburban Los Angeles with her husband/high school sweetheart and their two sons, who keep her on her toes.

As executive assistant to both the president & CEO and director of operations, Vanessa manages administrative matters ranging from budget management, travel and calendar coordination to accounts payable/receivable and meeting arrangements.  She also serves as liaison with vendors and consultants, and is our crackerjack editor and proofreader for an ongoing plethora of key documents.

Before joining Naomi Beard & Associates, Vanessa was the office manager of a fast-paced, growing family business with oversight of daily operations including finance, database management, marketing and operational projects, inventory systems and customer service/customer retention programs.

With more than 10 years’ administrative experience, Vanessa is a highly organized, detail-oriented manager able to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment to help achieve our organizational goals.

Michael Fairfax, Document Specialist

As document specialist for Naomi Beard & Associates, Michael is responsible
for preparing and maintaining files, correspondence, program materials and reports.
He is also an invaluable asset in providing planning and support for client
engagements, conferences, symposia, and workshops.

Background and Experience
Michael has more than 20 years’ experience in the legal field, beginning as a legal clerk and court reporter during military service.  He transitioned to civilian life as a legal secretary, word processor and case assistant in the Los Angeles office of Greenberg Traurig, an international law firm of some 1,800 attorneys.

Michael is vastly experienced in all areas of administrative support for lawyers and law firms, and is proficient in a wide array of legal-related software and all Microsoft Office programs.

An avid football fan, Michael lives in suburban Los Angeles with his wife and son.
